In my opinion, as humble as it may be, I currently use XP Pro at home and in the office. From what I’ve seen of Vista, I really like it, and I would love to use it but what worries me is the software compatibility.
I work in a computer store, and [we] use much software thatÂ [MS] hadn’t bothered to make compatible with Windows Vista. As an independant artist, [at home] I use programs like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, e-Frontier Poser. These programs as well were not created [by MS] with co-operative funtionality in mind. For me personally, and my art, it would be far less costly to just switch to Macintosh all together, as some of my software can be installed on both Windows & Mac computers.
Microsoft really needs to give their head a shake, as this reminds me exactly the situation where Manitoba and other provinces decided to become “cigarette smoke free.” What happened there? Certain cities at first, then WHOLE PROVINCES went 100% smoke free in their public buildings. Here is the result of this: Bars, restaurants, other establishments – LOST CUSTOMERS. If you DO NOT give your customers THE CHOICE whether they CAN or CANNOT do something, guess what: People are going to EXCERCISE THEIR RIGHT TO MAKE A CHOICE, and might very well find something different.
I’ll be the engineers [at MS] don’t see this in their statistics as well.

Based on vista is ok, as long as they fix it. From Win7 I want 2 things.
1Â Performance. It should run at least as fast as XP. OnÂ the EXACT SAME HARDWARE. (My expensive cpu is to run apps, not the os.)

2 Better reliability and security. But not at the cost of loads of ram and cpu cycles.

I dont want sidebars, or â€œenhanced search functionâ€ (if you cant find stuff on your own hard disk with XP search, your doing something horibly wrong) And most of all I dont want to replace my current PC, which does everything I want at a good speed, just to get support for vista/win7 stuff that could work on xp if only they botherd to make it.

It is based on Vista's bare source – Although it will look quite similar, it will have undergone major coding changes.

If Microsoft wants do hurt peoples feelings then they would make it pointless version but hopefully rumors are true and it will be freaking small , fast and stable with better security.

Currently it's their last try do awake the Longhorn project because WIn8 or Midori is too far away and Linux or Mac would get more attention if they really planned do ruin peoples suggestions.

Just afto wait more details of how is the newest milestone3 in size and speed compared do Vista and XP , M3 was said do be out….
