Windows 7 Wishlist

Our sister site gHacks recently posted a wishlist of of the things they would like to see changed, fixed or included in Windows 7.  Vista was a big step forwards, but I’m hoping that Windows 7 will include some more dramatic fixes such as:

Redesigned/More intelligent Start Menu

Windows’ menus are so big and clunky.  I’m sure that there is something Microsoft can do to redesign the whole way the Start menu works, or find a better way to let users access key system options

Better Performance On Normal Hardware

The problem with Windows is it just feels slow, no matter how fast your hardware is

Better Multi-monitor support

I hate not being able to do simple things like have different wallpapers or themes on different monitors

Better Home Networking Support

Networking on windows is a real mess.  we need better ways to control not just folder sharing, but also profiles and personal files across PCs

More Mobile Support

Windows needs to provide more control over mobile support.  I want to be able to plug my phone in and be able to sync or control it, without having to install manufacturer software

What features would you like to see changed in Windows 7?

    More Mobile Support
Its not up to microsoft if phone vendors require proprietary software.

    Better Home Networking Support
Are you seriouos? Have you used vista? Sharing is simple – right click > share > select permissions > click ok.

I would like to have a Reverse Compatibity as i have heard that it will not be emplented in Windows 7, and i would also like more hardware compatibility. I dont want to go through what happened with Vista’s release lol.

I would like more useful programs pre-installed with windows, such as Windows Live Messenger and whatnot, another thing I want is something that can compare to iLife (so I won't have to use macs ever again), besides that I want Windows 7 to have lower system requirments than Vista did. Well that's about it.

What I would like to see improved, compared to the current vista business:
    1. quicker start-up from shutdown
    2. quicker running OS with better performance
    3. Vista bugs solved before it is put out for sale.
    4. No disk thrashing
    5. No mysterious issues of unknown programs running in the background
    6. More tweaking of touch and voice capabilities. Improvement of the handwriting to text recognition to 98-99% (currently up to 95%).
    7. Improved user interface for touch and voice capabilities. (bigger buttons, more intuitive functioning of the user interface for touch).
    8. Improved windows software (e.g. more videoediting options in windows movie maker, more stable windows movie maker, windows defender as an antivirus, antispyware and cleaner)
    9. Most important: stable, stable, stable! No more mysterious crashes! No more service packs!
