ATI Adds Windows 7 Support to Catalyst 9.3 Drivers

Manufacturers seem to be well prepared for providing driver support for Windows 7 at it’s launch.

The latest manufacturer to become ready for Windows 7 is ATI, whose ATI Catalyst 9.3 drivers now include full support for Windows 7, including Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) 1.1 compliance for ATI Radeon HD 4000, 3000, and 2000 series of graphics cards.

In the latest ATI Catalyst drivers, gaming performance is also improved which should keep performance users happy.

This is the type of support that will make Win7 a far better OS than Vista in every way. It does help that they use the same drivers format.
MS did seem to get drivers support earlier  by manufacturers.  I always felt that Vista was just a visual update than a true productivity and  code update.

Just a word to the wary… I am running W7 build 7057 and just tried the new ATI drivers… BEWARE! In every build from 7000 (32&64 bit) the ATI drivers fouled up my system. As System Restore was an iffy proposition in the early builds that meant re-installs. Build 7057 System Restore is operational (slow) so you can take your chances… good luck!

Interesting that they now say that the ATI drivers officially support Windows 7 – not sure I’d trust them to run my games as yet, I always re-boot back to Vista for gaming.
