The Release Candidate keys appear to be working with build 7201 as well. There are not many obvious changes and it is generally assumed that Microsoft concentrated on eliminating bugs of the previous versions.

Here are the build strings and hashes of the leaked builds:

I forget what its called, but the feature shown in the first picture on the second page, where the windows zoom out. Is that a new feature to windows 7? or does the RC have it?

You mean Windows Flip? A feature introduced in Vista: Use [Windows Key] + Tab as you would use Alt + Tab.

    EDIT: Aero must be enabled.

This is a FAKE build. Look at the setup file on the ISO. Build date being listed is 090601-1516 but the Setup.exe on the ISO has a date of 6-2-09 and doesn’t display Microsoft Information. Just wait till after the 11th and grab the RTM escrow build.

you got a fake one you mean.

a legit leak is definitely available, i’m looking at a 7201 setup.exe with ms’s digital signature right now…

i think i mite put the 64bit on my desktop and the 32bit on laptop somepoint this week because I have 7100 atm. Anyone notice any changes/improvements etc?

Did anyone notice that the upgrade feature in 7201 works for upgrading from the previous builds???

  7. Dan June 7, 2009 at 4:40 pm #

    This IS a fake version.

It’s a modified version of an earlier build – so it looks like 7201, but is actually earlier than 7100.

    It’s a lot more buggy than 7100.

I recommend people stay clear of these releases, and wait for the official release in a few days.

Dan… This is NOT fake. I have just downloaded and installed this build and it is working just fine. I have checked all aspects of the OS and it IS Microsoft Certified as well after installed I have checked all other identifying points of the OS and it IS in fact build 7201.

Another thing is where did you come up with it being a old build that is older than 7100 but built to look like 7201? Sounds a bit far fetched if you ask me. Why not just download the original? Not like they are going to just magically know that build 7201 is going to leak so weeks in advance they work on taking a really old build when they could have used a newer one to fake as well going through the hassle. I bet you believe in robotic insects that the government has as well that are flying around your apartment too right? TOOL.

Oh and thanks for your recommendation I will be sure to ignore it. I hope everyone enjoys their 7201! See in this party it’s just like office space… Dan is the equivalent to Milton. We’re all excited and eating our cake and he gets none :( but hey at least we get to enjoy it now! YAY!

I can comfirm with Chris is is a legit build, I’m not saying that there aren’t fakes out there (I have no idea yes or no) but the version of 32bit I have on my laptop has noticeable changes such as the options for the time tool bar to hide inactive icons has chnaged slighly, but to be honest with you, theres not great deal of changes.

This is NOT a genuine version.

It may look genuine, because it’s an older build, but the version numbers have been altered to look like 7201.

Microsoft have confirmed this on the MS Beta forum.

The official release of Windows 7 RC2 is 7200, and NOT 7201. I can only assume someone though it would be good to make up a number bigger than 7200 so that people think it is a newer build in order for people to download it, and the maker get kind of thrills.

Microsoft have confirmed that an internal build of 7137 has been leaked, but insist that this version of 7201 is not a genuine version.

I don’t care whether you download and use it. I’ve got it running myself.

I’m only trying to educate you that you’re better off changing to the official version when it’s released, or run the 7137 in the meantime.

also Dan, could you please source where Microsoft said this is NOT a legit version please

  11. DKD5291986 June 7, 2009 at 10:35 pm #

Dan im with christopher on this one when does microsoft ever confirm anything when its first leaked second none of the older builds allowed upgrading from previous 7 builds but 7102 does, and if their is some magical possibility that someone can chagne these things with their magic wand could you please tell me where to get one case you must know the guy!!!! Would really appreciate it!!!!! On a shorter note I have gone through every corner of this o.s. and I can promise its genuine!

  12. DKD5291986 June 7, 2009 at 10:41 pm #

Oh if it is a fake build and built off an earlier version of 7 what build number is it built off? you seem to have all the answers.

Just to comfirm that the 7201 is real further (at least the copy I have) is that my laptops bluetooth driver was installed antomaticly when in pervious builds up to and including 7100 I’ve had to install it myself… of course the hacked version may of added extra drivers to make it look legit… that was scarcism btw.

this guy Dan is a tool.  someone (probably him) posted the same comment he did, word for word, “I’m running it myself…”  those whole few paragraphs, on the torrent site where i downloaded build 7201.  it was of course posted under a different nickname, but none the less the same exact schpeel.  I myself believe it is a legit release, I see noticable differences in the way my laptop runs with this build than previous builds.  Each build gets better then the next, and this is definately better than 7137

Dan, there is no “official” release of W7 RC2, they are going from RC straight to RTM, then Retail!

    W7, here we come!!!!
