OEM copies of Windows 7 have recently appeared on Newegg, and they are priced at roughly 50% of the cost for their retail counterparts from Microsoft.
Of course, these OEM copies are subject to the same issues that plagues virtually all OEM products: poor packaging, support, and instructions. However, for a technical user that just needs a valid license in order to satisfy his conscience use Windows 7, or a system builder that is looking to get legal copies of Windows 7 on the cheap, the other three options are either not needed or are worth the cost cut.
If you missed the pre-order discounts earlier this year in September (Windows 7 for $29.99), then this may be the best offer you can get. The offer is viable because Microsoft charges OEMs roughly half the price for a legit copy of Windows 7 than they do users (talk about Corporate America), so the price savings can be passed onto users who know what they want, and are willing to sacrifice a few useless perks in order to save them upwards of 100 USD.
As for price comparisons:
Home Premium can be found for 100 USD (x86 & x64), compare that to the retail price, which is 200 USD.
Or maybe you would prefer Professional, which is 135 USD (x86 and x64) compared to 300 USD for retail.
Finally, you could go with Ultimate for 175 USD (x86 & x64), or you could buy the retail version for 320 USD.
So if you missed out before, don’t miss out now. Pre-order your OEM copy today.

with these those copies can you only put it on 1 computer or as many as you want?
Notice how that the OEM discs are separated into 32-bit and 64-bit editions. With the retail version, you get both 32 and 64 in one box.
BELOW WAS A SURPRISE TO ME _ THOUGHT BECAUSE ACTIVATION IS NECESSARY FOR A SECOND INSTALL ITS NOT JUST COPY THE CD AND INSTALL ON ANOTHER COMPUTER?? ANY FEEDBACK APPRECIATED.
“As it is an OEM release you can also install multiple copies without any problems.”
