Wow. how incredibly Microsoft is this…(and yet another concrete reason as to why Macs are infinitely better and always will be) – a brand new version of their internet browser…running on their so-brand-new-it’s-not-even-officially-released-yet operating system…and they are >>ALREADY<< needing to tell people how to speed it up so it'll run better.

    Typical epic Microsoft fail.

Apple – All they have done with Snow Leopard is just refined Leopard and they said that themselves. Why didn’t they just refine leopard in the first place?

And as Everton has pointed out above – Not even Microsoft know about this tweak. And Microsoft didn’t tell anyone this tweak

Well first of all as a diehard Mac guy I have to say Windows 7 is pretty good to be honest – I was actually impressed. And IE 8 runs pretty good on it. But I was just making a point.

And yes Snow Leopard is refined but unlike Vista vs. 7 it’s not a fix-everything-so-it-works-now-yes-we-really-mean-it-actually-works-now kind of way, it’s more of a plan-for-the-future kind of thing with the refinements they’re advertising.

When Leopard was conceived, OpenCL and Grand Central Dispatch (2 of the most prominently-advertised features of Snow Leopard) weren’t even really invented yet. And 64 Bit by that point wasn’t as commonplace as it is now. Of course there’s other stuff they put in that could have been in Leopard, but no OS gets everything at once.

Registry cleaner would really be helpful for those who are using a windows operating system.

Not as fast as Windows 7 factually windows 7 is better then the new mac osx snow leopard says the BBC and many other sources. Least PCs are cheaper and you can use what ever OS you please on it. So many other downers to Mac!

    • GreenOneMan October 9, 2009 at 6:13 pm #

“windows 7 is better then the new mac osx snow leopard says the BBC and many other sources.”

God forbid anyone doubt the credibility of the BBC and their infinite wisdom when it comes to technology. :P You need better backup than than buddy!

“Least PCs are cheaper and you can use what ever OS you please on it”

You get what you pay for. Don’t compare a Ford Focus to a Volkswagon.

And Normal, everyday people who aren’t tech geeks or hardcore gamers don’t care about uber-customizing their computers. They just want one that friggin’ works the way it should from day one with proper FULL support for hardware and software without runaround our headaches.
I’ve had my Macbook for 2 1/2 years, I had the DVD drive replaced and the logic board. Things break, and that’s life… but thanks to the Applecare warranty I bought, both times I took it in to an Apple dealer – had it back fixed the same week and didn’t cost me a thing. Would have been at least $600 (twice as much as I paid for the Applecare) had I not had the warranty. And had this been a PC, I can’t imagine the headaches that would have been involved…being told to go from one company and one phone number to another and another, since so many companies are involved with the hardware and software.

“So many other downers to Mac!”

Really? Enlighten me. I love hearing these, they’re always either completely justified things that aren’t actually ‘downers’ to non-ignorant people, or totally expired “one button mouse” type arguments. :)

Ah yes mac……that lame duck that wouldn’t be around had microsoft not stepped up and saved them from bankruptcy? That same company that within the past few years had to change the way they were doing their entire computer line because they couldn’t run ANY program that people NEEDED at the time? Or use the same hardware or require the same type of hardware/software training that the market was demanding at the time? I love that company LoL! Luckily they fired their Board of Directors and put Jobs back in charge just in time for him to save that ass with the iPod!! NOT their oh-so-magnificent-uber-elite-never-break-down-or-have-a-problem-oh-and-did-i-mention-i-don’t-get-viruses? computer line. iPod still keeps the mac company afloat and will for the next 5-10 yrs. the Mac computer still only holds roughly +5% of the market, this is why they are only #1 in CUSTOMER SERVICE not sales or use. It helps to not have as much volume of calls for your CS department to handle, I don’t mean that Mac doesn’t break down I mean not as many people own a Mac.
I don’t hate Mac, in fact I like what they have done since Steve Jobs came back and they started to “play nice” with the rest of the computer world. Open any new Mac laptop today and it will have the same parts as any other Dell out there. Plus you usually get the option of getting your Mac with a Windows VM installed so you don’t have to buy two versions of the same damn software like you had to so long ago if you had a PC/Apple combo at the time.
Now because I know someone will say it eventually, I’ll do it now. Mac doesn’t have much of a problem with viruses. There. Done. Now, those of you who love to spout this wonderous piece of knowledge have you ever asked yourself why? A hacker doesn’t want to write code to attack 5 computers when he can attack 1500. Let Mac make a real showing at the sales floors around the world and watch as they drop to a viscious virus attack due to pompous Mac users running around with their laptops/desktops more wide open than a hookers legs on a weekend.

“You get what you pay for.”
        a. the build quality of the mac hardware is poor, after 2 years hard drives, power supplies, cpu’s fail, the list goes on. as you have experienced!

“Don’t compare a Ford Focus to a Volkswagon.”
        b. Volkswagen own bugatti and bugatti make the FASTEST ON ROAD CAR IN THE WORLD. Ford focus does not stand a chance since it was volkswagen themselves responsible for the magnificent car.

        c. Average users, when users buy a pc the manufacturer has all ready loaded the necessary software and drivers onto the computer.

d.Customising, I know alot of normal users that don’t mess around or tweak their systems as much as more advanced users. but they do mess around with them slightly. I showed one a mac and they found out that they could not change certain aspects of the system that they did not like.

Windows does have problems like the registry which can be good and bad but really unecessary.

No offence, but what does this do exactly? Can anybody give some technical explanation? Not that I don’t trust you guys here; it would just be nice to know.

    • Everton Blair October 9, 2009 at 2:36 am #

“it re-registers the ActiveX Interface Marshaling Library, an obscure DLL that most people (even Microsoft experts) had never heard about.” This can go missing in IE8 installations – this tweak is totally safe.

  4. Anonymous October 9, 2009 at 9:44 am #

    Even better idea:

    1) Open IE
    2) Google “Firefox”
    3) Go to firefox website
    4) Download firefox

    • Robert B October 9, 2009 at 11:10 am #

Eh, Firefox takes at least 20 seconds to do its first load on my Windows 7 machine, after that it takes about 3 seconds everytime i reopen it…..
IE8 does it’s first load in 3 seconds and 3 seconds for everytime i reopen it.

Google Chrome – less than a second!

      • Anonymous October 9, 2009 at 5:16 pm #

Download SWareIron, it’s chromium with plugin support for an ad-blocking software, of course I turn it off on this site. But this browser is the fastest thing i’ve ever seen. Excluding net-scape.

  5. Sean Higgins October 9, 2009 at 3:11 pm #

i did this and notice no change in IE8….just saying.

“And Normal, everyday people who aren’t tech geeks or hardcore gamers don’t care about uber-customizing their computers. They just want one that friggin’ works the way it should from day one with proper FULL support for hardware and software without runaround our headaches. ”

    What software?

And the other downers? Where are all the good games, photoshop isn’t very exciting.

    • GreenOneMan October 10, 2009 at 12:18 pm #

      “What software?”

Ever used a Mac before? Mac comes with iLife and Apple fully supports it. No bloated trialware like all Windows machines come with (and no viruses & spyware :)

“Where are all the good games”

I see you’re a little slow…how about going back and reading the part you quoted from me again…you might notice I already said GAMERS are excluded from the types of people I mentionned.

      “Photoshop isn’t very exciting”

Never heard this one before, but try blaming Adobe for that.

      • Name October 10, 2009 at 11:39 pm #

So, what your saying is that if I don’t want to play games or have a great selection of other software to choose from to accomplish my boring old tasks I should choose a mac that cost 2x, 3x, 4x or more than a pc just because there pre loaded bloatware supposedly works great! Well, I’m sold, thousands of dollars to get email and cruise the internet, yahoo!

        • GreenOneMan October 12, 2009 at 12:02 pm #

My God, listen to yourself. You obviously don’t have a friggin’ clue about Macs other than what you hear from other PC idiots…and probably those retarded, ill-informed ‘Laptop Hunters’ ads.

“I should choose a mac that cost 2x, 3x, 4x or more than a pc just because there pre loaded bloatware supposedly works great!”

Well boo hoo, I’m sorry you can’t afford quality!!

First off, where is this bloatware you speak of? iLife is the only non-system software that comes on EVERY Mac, and it’s anti-bloatware. It’s not trial, it’s useful to everyone, and if you don’t want it on there, just drag it to the trash. How many prompts, menus and registry entries to you have to crawl through to fully uninstall some things on Windows?

          Besides this, Macs…

          -are BUILT BETTER. Pick one up sometime. No junky plastic, and no third-party add-ons. And this is a GOOD thing. Sure there are third party essential internal components, but if they break you don’t have to go to those companies to get it fixed, because unlike all PC manufactureres, Apple assumes responsibility for everything in their machines. You may see this as a disadvantage, but trust me, for the average normal user, its a definite advantage;

-WORK BETTER for the average user. Once again, NO viruses and spyware…and before you mention the “only 10% of the market share” argument, know that we happen to like it that way! :) Only a small percentage of car owners have BMW’s, and they wouldn’t like it if everyone drove what they had.

-have BETTER, MORE STREAMLINED SUPPORT, as I explained in one of my previous posts…the Applecare warranty is the best one there is out there for computers.

-with the exception of some games and uber-niche software that normal people don’t care about, can do ANYTHING you can do on a PC. If you weren’t such an ignorant and completely uneducated fanboy and had touched a Mac since 2001, you’d know that.

And BTW I fully admit that I’m a fanboy myself, but trust me, that’s not a bad thing. I’m a fan of quality and first-rate computing, which is why we’d rather slit our wrists than own a PC :)

          • Sean Higgins October 15, 2009 at 12:05 pm #

get to slitting….mac are not all that you make them seem…and your line about not affording quality is complete BS! Your a mac fanboy on a windows 7 news site…get a life dude. Macs are over priced and they do nothing that a PC wont do…in fact macs and “PC’s” are both just tools to get something done. So why don’t you go kiss on apples ass somewhere else… besides i would put a high end PC against your beloved Mac anyday of the week and run circles around your over priced mac. you make all these claims about how PC’s have virus and macs “work better”. Please do your self a favor and piss off with that crap. You have no idea what you are talking about and just want to think macs are better when they are not…. fucking fanboys…

          • GreenOneMan October 15, 2009 at 5:00 pm #

I love how you’re admitting defeat by addressing none of the extremely valid points I’ve made, except for your “my PC can run circles around your Mac” comment. Just as ignorant and uneducated as the “Name” person who I was directing all this at.

            Truth hurts, doesn’t it? ;)

And I’m on this site cause I LIKE Windows 7 like I said in a previous post! I think it’s a decent OS to be honest.

          • Sean Higgins October 16, 2009 at 12:21 am #

admit defeat? really…how so… and as far as uneducated and ignorant, that is really childish and stupid.

          • GreenOneMan October 16, 2009 at 8:53 am #

            “how so..”

Didn’t I already go through this on my last post?!?

“and as far as uneducated and ignorant, that is really childish and stupid”

Don’t be so hard on yourself…just because you’re uneducated and ignorant doesn’t mean that you’re childish and stupid :P …Oh wait, haahaha I get it you meant ME…ok then…well I don’t see how accusing someone of being either ignorant or uneducated is ‘childish and stupid’. It’s not like I called you a smelly doo-doo face or something.

            http://windows7news.com/2009/10/16/the-pc-and-mac-debate/
here you go…. we can discuss this there…enjoy! : )

          • GreenOneMan October 16, 2009 at 2:48 pm #

I already saw your whiny article, thank you (which STILL doesn’t properly address any of the points I’ve made with any proper backup)

What else is there to discuss? I’ve already made my points and have nothing more to say. And besides you’re only reading the parts you want to read in my posts so why bother?

          • Sean Higgins October 16, 2009 at 5:51 pm #

so you read the article but continue to post on this one….sounds like somebody is a little timid to comment on the article that directly quotes him….i have a name for that but….i dont want to be rude : ) have a good day!

          • GreenOneMan October 19, 2009 at 6:18 pm #

At least I’m not some soulless waste of life PC enthusiast.

Have a great day yourself! :)

  7. I hate non proctive people July 22, 2010 at 2:11 am #

All this bunch of losers spending time and posts to say my PC-Brand is better than yours and blablabla. Why don’t they exchange phone numbers and talk about it instead of letting everybody know how stupid they are? They don’t do anything proactive here…
