Looking at Speech Recognition Part 4

A Quick Look at the Opposition -- Dragon NaturallySpeaking

Better Error Control

Having used both programs extensively, I consider Dragon NaturallySpeaking offers better error control than Windows 7 Speech Recognition.

While Windows 7 Speech Recognition error control is reasonably good it is much simpler to perform error correction in Dragon.

The following illustration shows you how to correct spelling in Dragon.

Using Commands

Another feature is Dragon NaturallySpeaking’s ability to use direct commands to access icons and menus rather than use the Numbering method in Windows 7 Speech Recognition. Dragon’s approach is quicker by far.

In this sequence about accessing the Insert menu, choosing header and inserting a particular heading, called Alphabet, the illustration below shows the sequence.

And another thing! While Windows 7 Speech Recognition's Speech Tutorial is superior as it allows user interaction and incorporates your responses as part of the training regimen, Dragon NaturallySpeaking's training program, though not so sophisticated, still covers all apects of speech recognition extremely well.

Both Voice Recognition Programs have something of value to offer and in the final analysis it is up to you, the potential user to choose which one you prefer.
