Windows7 Codecs from Shark007 for Audio and Video Formats

Windows 7 Codecs is a codec pack for Windows 7 that installs all the necessary components for all audio and video playback.

Windows 7 Logo

What is a codec?
A codec is a device or computer program capable of encoding and/or decoding a digital data stream or signal.
The term codec is short for compression/decompression; and thus a codec is an algorithm or special computer program that reduces the number of bytes consumed by large files. At the audio level, a codec stands for coder/decoder and it is a device used to convert analog signals to digital bit streams and vice versa so it is  used to allow voice and video communication over digital networks.
What is the program supposed to do?
It will automatically remove other codec installs from your computer before installing it’s own codecs. After installing Win7codecs, Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center will automatically recognize all your media files as playable.

For those of you how have installed this and are running a 64bit OS (NOT 32bit!) and like to watch anime like me and download the H264.MKV releases. I have a question: Do you get thumbnails generated for those files? If I have a standard Video audio only into the mkv, I get thumbnails, but when you throw the subs file in there, only the Media Player logo shows. And I have had a problem with this ever since I started using 64bit OS’s from Vista and now 7 too.

Waste of time unless you have a specific reason for using a feature of this pack.
Use VLC RealplayerSP/ DivX Plus Player or if you need updates/reinstall use the MS official updated codecs on the MS Media website.

Will probably work ok but not worth the potential mess if you’re not an experienced user…. ?
    -Less is more…. -more-or-less.
