Keep in mind that Microsoft has lost a lawsuit to i4i on the topic of patent infringement, so naturally Microsoft is anxious to see that it’s flagship application go off without a hitch. Office 2010 is expected to launch in June 2010.
Since the beta was release several weeks ago, the download rate has been phenomenal. More than 2 million users have made the download process their own. Hm…in seven weeks, that comes to about 40,000 downloads.

But what is its performance like? Supposedly 9 out 10 think that their productivity has improved with O 2010. They must be happy users.

So what is the cost?

It depends on the edition that you purchase. Microsoft will release 4 editions:

Here are some details about the licensing.

You can have Office Home and Student on upto three PC’s in one house: The boxed product is available in a Family Pack, where multiple licensing usage is available.
|
Also purchase rights for the Office Home and Business, Office Professional, and Office Professional Academic boxed product allow for usage on two of your PCs. This makes the product more customer friendly than in the past. While the activation process will still occur; it is intended now to allow more than once set of usage at a time.
|
The Product Key Card applies to single user licenses, with only one PC per installation.

    Ok everyone, start paying the other arm and leg for Office 2010 after Windows 7.

    OpenOffice is so slow on Vista. I’m using Microsoft Works for now. I’m actually hoping to get Office 2007 this year. So 2010 will have to wait.
