How To Add Network Folders to Libraries in Windows7

If you have wanted to add network folders or non-indexed folders to the Libraries in Windows7, you’ld see that it can not be done. This is bad because the Libraries feature allows you to store documents, pictures, music, and other items that are scattered in different locations around your hard drives. This library configuration tool makes it easy to overcome that limitation.

  1. Besides network drives, mapped or UNC you can also add un-indexed folders.
  2. You can perform Backup Library Configurations.
  3. You can create a mirror of all libraries with symbolic links in the SystemDrive:libraries. A shorter path can be used to make the reference.
  4. You can also change the library’s icon.

I have found this program to be useful, and easy to work with. Remember my warning about adding your existing library folders before you proceed to add new ones.

If you are one of those programmers that likes to do things through the command line you can use the slutil.exe program.

Although this program was written by Zorn Software, another programmer, Josh Smith of the Treeview CodeProject came up with the initial model.
