Johnson Controls is using Microsoft Surface, the multitouch computer that is designed to respond to natural hand gestures and real-world objects. Customized applications that illustrate key data and information from their building management system and information solutions will be on display with Surface.

The two technologies were meant for one another. The energy management system gathers information from one or several buildings to acquire ways to improve energy efficiency and operations. Working with Surface and its multitouch, multiuser functionality, Johnson Controls will obtain and interact with different video or pictures and scale graphs, and other real world  information more effectively. In addition, the large Surface horizontal form factor will make possible a more workable and unified experience among diverse users.

What Does Johnson Controls Offer

There are several ways that Johnson Controls offers direct interaction. Surface allows users to collect data with their hands and interact with content using touch gesture; all without the use of a mouse or keyboard.

Both systems, Surface and Metasys, gather information from one or multiple buildings to obtain visual information that will allow them to coordinate and manage energy operations as well as management control. Also, with the object recognition capabilities now available, users can allocate physical objects on the visual display to generate different types of responses, including the transfer of digital content. The access and use of data is changing to make applications respond faster.
