Most Windows 7 users are expecting the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 to be released in 2010. Microsoft has already mentioned that it will not contain major changes or additions which some have interpreted as a way of saying “Why wait? Get Windows 7 now!”.
A beta release of the service pack 1 for Windows 7 is expected to be released in April or May depending on the progress made by the developers.
The guys over at GeekSmack are now reporting that a beta build of Windows 7 SP1 has leaked and that it is likely that it will be made available through the usual channels (that is P2P for instance) in the coming days.

The reviewer is not mentioning any changes to the system. Maybe he did not have the time to take a deeper look or there are not any major changes in this release just as Microsoft let us know.
Below are the screenshots from the installation of the Service Pack 1. What are your intentions? Will you happily install the beta version or wait until the final version is released before making the switch?

Na, I’m not bothered and will wait. Unlike with Vista, I’m not poised for service packs yet. In fact, I don’t find it necessary since I haven’t faced any major flaws or errors. I think Microsoft is pushing it forward to convince those waiting for SP1 to be released to upgrade to Windows 7.
After all, it’s not a Windows 8 leak, is it??
There are quite a few bugs I have picked up with windows 7. Media player fails to resond on a regular basis. Dont use the hibernation function, more often then not it does not recover from it, so any work you were doing will be lost if you use it. The start button freezes explorer often. Online updates are rubbish, they make windows highly unstable, it BSOD’s regularly after that. Also shutting windows down is like trying to shutdown windows 98 without the shutdown patch, its rediculous.
Give credits for the hard work

I hate people that come here and just continually say “Oh man you ripped us off!” etc.
This article said only that the beta build had leaked, and since this site does not condone piracy nor the illegal sharing of these leaks, it really shouldn’t link to locations where it’s available for download.
Additionally, the author may not have known exactly where the leak came from, which is why he linked only to the place where he found the leak information. If the link to that forum is available on the GeekSmack post, then the forum has been linked to indirectly, by means of the site that the author got the news from.

Which is why I’ve put the link. I’m not saying anyone ripped w7v off, just giving credits for their work.
Could have been worded better though. Guess it doesn’t matter.
To avoid fake or modified copies, here’s the ISO file’s information from WZorNet:

Martin, you may delete this comment if you add it to the article. Thanks.
I don’t feel like taking the risk of installing this. In the past I’ve done this and then when the actual update from Microsoft became available, it totally screwed my computer.
Additionally, I don’t feel the need to install it as Windows 7 has not caused me even one problem.
no, i won’t install beta version. I’ll just wait for the final one. The thing that I hate from Service Pack is we, the user of ultimate edition, is a “second class citizen” in terms of SP release. We’ll have to wait for several more weeks than the others just because some of us installed a language that is not included in the first wave of SP. I always install italian along with japanese and french. The problem is that while french/japanese is released first, because of italian, I will have to wait.
Windows 7 Ultimate has been working fine for me ever since I installed it shortly after the RTM, in fact I was using the Beta and RC from the moment they where released and never had to reinstall.
Which unfortunately is more than I can say for 98, XP and Vista which usually had to get reinstalled every 2 month or less. So I am one happy customer and don’t see why business or anyone else would want to wait for SP1 in order to upgrade.
I wish MS would disable the folder_content-icons-all-set-to-the-same-size-across-all-folders thing, it drives me NUTS! SOME folders I want the icons all small, or set to a list, in other folders I want them to be super large; but it gets REALLY annoying when I can’t do that like you could in Vista and have to change them each time with the slider. For example, I like the contents of my Misc’ folder all set to a list of items, but in my own Photographs folder, I want them super large – you can no longer do this in W7. Please, please, please, please MS, allow is to have this facility properly implemented in SP1!
Has MS ‘fixed’ explorer, without requiring an update to the registry? That is, this user wants, as a default to have the contents of a directory as a ‘list’. So, unless the user then, actually changes a directory display method, it is at the topmost level of the UI display methodology. I don’t want to have to necessarily hack the registry to make this so! It kind of worked in XP; HELLO!!!
