It’s been only six months since Windows 7 was launched, I know seems like much longer doesn’t it, and this just indicates how comfortable people have become with Microsoft’s latest desktop OS.
Yesterday Microsoft reported that they’ve sold a magic 100 Million licences for the OS. This makes it the fastest selling operating system in History, according to Microsoft.
Part of the reason for this is the number of business that have already moved to the OS, it has also proven extremely successful in the home however with, for the first time ever, half of bought copies being retail boxed versions.
The news is also good for Microsoft and more is coming with the news that 50% of IT departments will be looking to migrate to Windows 7 “before the first service pack is launched”. Analysts have also predicted that Windows 7 will be “the” operating system for enterprises before the year is out.
This could make Windows 8 Microsoft’s toughest sell ever, unless that is the rumours about a managed-code, legacy-free OS are true. Sadly, my sources working on the vNext project and elsewhere at Microsoft are as tight-lipped as ever.

and now i mad today that my lexmark printer only prints each time I restart.
never had a problem on xp…sometimes I just wanna put the old girl back on it.
And once those stubborn XP users upgrade…
Windows 7 is the best thing since XP. Had Vista before i upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate. Vista should never had been released as a OS. Never had a problem with win 7. Microsoft rules with this OS and i wait with big confidence for Win 8 and Internet Explorer 9.
I’m glad to see that Windows 7 has reached a 10% market share. In my opinion it has already proven itself as the best client operating. I saw a lot of people that had no knowledge regarding computers that were ok with the use of it so one of the more important steps that were taken in its development is user friendliness. I just hope that even those that are still holding with their teeth to Windows XP will soon realize that Windows 7 is a very important step in the PC evolution.
I Don’t Think That The Windows 7 Is The Best….I Prefere XP
