Fujitsu Windows 7 Slate Appears On YouTube – One To Watch

Fujitsu were showing off their latest upcoming tablet at CES earlier this month. The Windows 7 based demo unit they had was clearly a very early stage prototype but it looked promising. It boasts a 10-inch screen with a 1280×800 resolution and has N-Trig technology (which means you can use a input pen on it) as well as an Atom Processor (Fujitsu claims the unit will ship in Q2 with an Oak Trail processor), a speedy SSD, and a fingerprint swipe feature on the underside.

While we haven’t actually seen a proper working unit yet, Fujitsu have decided that it’s time to start promoting the tablet, without actually using it. This may sound a bit odd, but it involves  a hammer, chocolate and a scarf???

Yes it does sound all a little bit far-fetched but it makes sense, sort of… you’ll really need to watch the video below to understand it all. The video made it’s debut on YouTube this week and stars Fujitsu Mobile Product Director Meinolf Althaus who explains the concept behind developing the Windows 7 slate, with the aid of the for-mentioned items.

I’m going to let you watch the video now so you get some idea of what all this is about, because you’re probably rightly confused at this stage.

Hopefully that video will have cleared up what I was talking about. What Fujitsu want you to gain from that is that the tablet will be as soft as a comfy scarf to the touch, it’ll be as easy to hold as a hammer and you can consume content as easily as you can eat chocolate. All very good metaphors for a tablet that will hopefully make it to the market sooner rather than later.
