While we still haven’t got an actual shipping date for the Asus Eee Slate PC , we do have some commercials for it at last, which could mean it’s on the way soon. The Asus Eee Slate PC is probably one of the first proper Windows 7 tablets that we’ve seen which have been endorsed by Microsoft.
And it’s specs aren’t looking to bad either. It was unveiled at CES earlier this year and Asus also told us it would be available later that month (January), but as it turns out that was a false promise as we haven’t seen any sign of it to date. It’s packing an impressive Core i5-470UM processor, and comes with 2GB or 4GB of RAM as well as a 64GB solid state drive. But it’s not only its internal muscle that’s enough for it to compete with the big boys. Of course it’s running Windows 7 Home Premium but it also has a high resolution 1280 x 800 12.1 inch IPS capacitive display with a Wacom Digitizer. The display is said to have a viewing angle of 175 degrees and is made from ultra-tough corning Gorilla Glass.
The Wacom Digitizer is what allows you to use a stylus pen with the slate, this means you will be able to draw things and take notes easily. The battery is also set to last 3 or more hours, so it’s not going to win any awards for that, but I could live with it.
Asus say that this slate is just as much for entertainment as it is enterprise. It comes with a front-facing camera and a HDMI port but I’m not sure if the business scene is quite ready to adopt tablet devices just yet as they’re only coming to market.
The price? Not cheap, it’s set to cost $999 whenever it finally is released.
Have a look at the adverts for it below. Microsoft are emphasizing that it can be used by both adults and children. They also show that it can be used as a traditionally PC by hooking it up with a bluetooth keyboard at a desk.

Asus leading the way again! I want one! But they. are. too. much…
This will not take much market share – too expensive and stylus?
…obviously you can finger it as well…
…lol…love the ads!
