One of Disney’s favorite movies is the Lion King.  It was released in 1994 as an animated feature film.  The Lion King garnered critical acclaim and at one point based on 61 reviews collected, the film had an overall approval rating of 92%. Among Rotten Tomatoes’s Cream of the Crop, which consists of popular and notable critics from the top newspapers, websites, television and radio programs, the film holds an overall approval rating of 100 percent. Another critic source, Metacritic,  calculated an average score of 84 from the 13 reviews it collected.

The inspiration behind The Lion King was by the Joseph and Moses stories from the Bible and William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. There are also certain elements of the film that bear a resemblance to a  1960s Japanese anime television show, Kimba the White Lion.
