I’m sure those of you who have been following our coverage of Windows 8 over the last couple of weeks will know that Microsoft gave away a bunch of free tablets to the developers in attendance. There was nearly 5,000 developers in attendance and Microsoft promised them all a free Samsung tablet running the developer preview of Windows 8 so they could get cracking and develop some apps for it.
The tablet itself was actually a pretty nice piece of tech.
It runs a dual-core 1.6GHz Intel i5 chip and has an 11.6-inch screen weighing in at just under 2 pounds. It packs 4GB of RAM and a 64GB SSD drive. AT&T also threw in 2GB of free data every month for a whole year.
I’m sure there’s plenty of you who wouldn’t mind getting your hands on one, well if you really want one, you can. After doing a quick search for “Windows Developer Tablet” over on ebay I came across plenty of them. It seems like there’s plenty of developers who are looking to turn over a nice tidy little profit for the tablets by selling them on.
At the moment they appear to be going around the $2,000 mark (some of them a lot more) and most of them seem to be coming with all the accessories such as the wireless keyboard and docking station.
So maybe some of you guys really want to try out the full Windows 8 experience, including trying the new metro UI through touch. Well if you’re willing to fork out you can pick yourself up one of these tablets.
