Samsung Series 7 Tablet Pre-Orders Now Live

I’m fairly sure that most of you Windows fans will remember how envious you were when Microsoft gave away 400 brand new shiny Samsung Tablets at the Windows 8 Build conference last month. These tablets were packed with brilliant hardware and ran Windows 8 seamlessly. The point of them was to allow developers to mess around with Windows 8 and to start developing apps for it.

A couple of days after the event, these tablets appeared up on eBay and were selling for nearly $4000 at one stage! However if you head over to the Microsoft Store now, you will find that Microsoft are taking pre-orders for the Samsung Series 7 tablet which is basically the same tablet if not a little better in some respects.

The specs are fairly impressive, but the price is also a bit steep too at $1,299

  • 11.6 inch SuperBright LED (1366 x 768)
  • Intel Core i5-2467M 1.60 GHz
  • 4GB DDR3 RAM
  • 128GB SSD
  • Intel HD Graphics 3000
  • 2 Megapixel camera on the front, 3 Megapixels on the rear
  • Weighs 1.98 lbs
  • Up to 7 hours battery
Of course this tablet will come running Windows 7 and not the Windows 8 developer preview edition like the ones Microsoft gave away, but that’s understandable. Microsoft also appear to have left out the NFC chip and Gyroscopes from the description on their site which would make me wonder as to whether or not they’re included. You do get Microsoft Signature however which is basically Microsoft tuning everything so it runs perfect and giving you support for every little problem that you may have.
There doesn’t appear to be any shipping date up on the site at the moment, it’s just up for pre-order. Either way it’s probably the best Windows 7 tablet that you can will be able to get.
