This doesn’t really come as too much of a surprise to many of us, but according to Fujitsu, Windows 8 will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2012. The slide that you can see below was apparently shown off at one of Fujisu’s conferences where they were touting their plans for 2012.
As you can see in the bottom right corner it quite clearly says “Win8 Launch” in “Q4 2012″. Now we have received no official word from Microsoft as to when Windows 8 would be released, but we’ve all been pretty certain that it would be towards the end of 2012.
However there’s also been speculation that Fujitsu are actually referring to when they first plan to release a Windows 8 tablet which could potentially mean that Windows 8 will be released even earlier.
The thing is, Microsoft themselves probably aren’t too sure when they will actually be releasing Windows 8 either. Of course it’s in their interest to get it out to the market as soon as they can and in time for the holiday season, but they still don’t know how consumers will react to it as of yet. There was plenty of complaints that the developer preview of Windows 8 wasn’t very mouse or keyboard friendly so Microsoft have promised that the final release of Windows 8 will improve a lot on this. Microsoft will be showing off the first consumer preview of Windows 8 at the end of this month and we’ll get a pretty good idea then how far Microsoft have come along with Windows 8.
So unless Microsoft find that they still have a lot of work left to do with Windows 8, the chances are that we could see Windows 8 released towards the beginning of Q4 2012.
