I remember when XP came out, a lot of people hated it. Now, there seems to be a lot of die hard XP fans. My laptop came with Vista, and I didn’t experience some of the problems others did with Vista. The one thing I hated, it was so big. I started using Windows 7 in beta, and think it is the best thing Microsoft has come up with. It is simple, fast and doesn’t take all day to install. I am dual booting with Windows 8 CP. I have to say I like it a lot. I am having fun with Metro. It is a bit of a challenge for an old dog like me, but that is what I like about it. All the software I run with 7 has run flawlessly in 8 so far. Except for the software for the HP Envy all in one, it will not install, and I cannot scan from 8, no big deal. Start up is fast, which is a blessing. I cannot do the touch screen thing with my old laptop. For me, I think it will all come down to price. If I have to sell the farm to purchase 8 then I will pass. In my opinion 7 is still the best thing Windows has come up with, so far.

XP had one fabulous feature: the Classic theme.

Few would question the improvements in Windows’ guts version to version, but the UI is another matter.
