Three new entertainment apps are now available on Xbox LIVE. They are xfinity from Comcast, HBO Go from HBO, and MLB.tv
Comcast launched the XFINITY TV on-demand service on Xbox 360. This will give customers access to a huge library of entertainment brought to a console for the first time. This includes the new Streampix library. With Kinect, you can control it all with your voice or a wave of your hand – however you like. With xfinity, users have access to many subjects including news, entertainment, sports, finance, travel, jobs, and autos.
HBO GO on Xbox 360 launched their entire catalogue of live and on demand original content. Customers have access to every episode of every show. One can look at the latest like Game of Thrones, or older favorites like The Sopranos. With Kinect, you can voice search the entire HBO catalogue.
Want to watch two baseball games at once? Want to pause and rewind a live game? That is possible with MLB.TV because it transforms sports entertainment. It provides live and on demand games in HD. But that is just part of it. The personalization effects mentioned above are part of the system.
So you can jump between the action via the Mini Guide and watch two games at once with Split Screen. Another feature that comes with Kinect is that you can pause and rewind live games and highlights using just your voice and motion controls. It’s a new sports experience.
These new shows that are standards on TV, now have a new home to let customers bring their experience with Xbox. But what is interesting is that Xbox is pushing the boundaries bringing many different types of industries into this once game-only product. That is not the case. There have been elements in education, science, and medicine that have also turned to Kinect and Xbox to deliver new opportunities to viewers. These are just the latest.
