Connecting to the Azure Cloud

There are different ways of connecting to the Azure Cloud. Every customer’s path to the cloud will be unique, which is why Microsoft Corp. is optimizing its technologies and tools so customers can easily connect to public, private or hybrid clouds when they are ready.

As it is some customers, like Aflac Inc., ING Direct, and Tribune Co. are working to expand their data-centers into the Azure cloud to scale on demand and help reduce infrastructure costs.

Microsoft is currently using various methods to help customers deliver content through cloud services and to find new ways to deliver a targeted, more personalized experience to support a customer base.

In that, regard Microsoft has underscored the release candidate of Windows Server 2012, plus recent updates to Windows Azure and the release of Windows Intune. These new releases will allow customers to leverage one modern operating system across public, private and hybrid clouds and manage a multitude of devices connected to those clouds.

Server 2012

Windows Server 2012 Release Candidate (RC), became available on May 31, 2012 for customers to download and evaluate. Advancements in storage, networking, and scalability have been drawn from Microsoft’s experience running public cloud services.

Windows Azure

Windows Azure is newly updated with preview support for Virtual Machine and Virtual Network, support for Windows and Linux images, and additional support for Java and Python.

Windows Intune

The latest release of Windows Intune is now available at This includes expanded management and security benefits through mobile device management and adds people-centric management capabilities and upgrade rights to the latest version of Windows.


All of these tools and applications operate around software development systems. In that regard then, in order to help developers and IT professionals build experiences that scale across devices and the cloud, Microsoft LightSwitch, an easy-to-use development tool will now contain HTML5. By integrating HTML5 into LightSwitch, this will enable developers to use the tool to target any device or platform that supports HTML5.

Microsoft gears these tools and facilities towards providing current and top of the line operations in order to make the Cloud experience a personal but sophisticated business operation.
