Hi all. I have searched, but i didn’t find any1 with the same problem (or i didn’t search hard enough…): I have installed windows 7 to a new drive, by starting windows XP pro, then double clicking the setup file on the dvd rom. That works fine. Now i wanted to install the x64 version of windows 7. I have tried this with the 32 bit version too, but with the same result. I tried starting with windows XP and trying to run the setup.exe from the x64 version, but windows XP (32bit) reports it as an invalid application. I can install windows7 32 bit this way (see earlier in the post), but i want to try the 64 bit. I hope some1 knows the answer on how to accomplish this! TIA!, |

I’m on Windows XP x86 (32 bit). But the problem also exists when tryin to boot with the windows7 x86 (32bit) version… I can only install windows7 x86 when i double click the installer when started with windows XP (the X64 version will fail at this point too, as it is not a program windows XP x86 can run). |

1. Go to “Start” and “Run” in XP. Type in “g:bootbootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force” (without quotes, and replacing g: with the drive letter of your Windows 7 DVD). Applies to Windows 7 or Vista ! |

If you burned the disc at to high a speed it won’t work. 1x or 2x at the most – then try and see if it works <!– s:) –><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/smiley.gif" alt=" |

Intel core i7 940 should be ok for 64 bit. ram size, etc ? you are needing to address more of it eg: 4gigs ?? otherwise i would stick with 32bit. more progams compatibilty ! |
