Bing Grows Past Yahoo

Nielson has one set of numbers, but Experian Hitwise, another analytics firm pegged Bing’s U.S. market share at 9.86 percent, behind Yahoo at 14.43 percent and Google at 71.43 percent. Truth or Dare – Will Microsoft Buy AOL?

So what is the current market share of the current search engines? For starters, AOL’s search market share in the U.S. was 2.4 percent in April, according to comScore Networks. For that time period Microsoft had 11.8 percent, Yahoo hit 17.7 percent. But the king of the hill is Google with 64.4 percent. If the Yahoo and AOL business ventures work, then Microsoft’s share could be at 31.9 percent.

Microsoft has now responded to this. In a blog post, Windows and Security: Setting the Record Straight, Microsoft basically said, that their size makes them a bigger target, not their program design.
