Posted on Everything Microsoft - Latest Microsoft News, Guides, Reviews & Themes

Microsoft will be over joyed to hear the news today that Windows 7, their new operating system has managed yet another incredible achievement. Their new OS is clearly popular among consumers and it has managed to break the record for the most number of pre-orders ever sold on Amazon.co.uk.

Today Amazon announced that Windows 7 has managed to beat the Nintendo Wii and Harry Potter novels to claim the number one spot.

The launch of Windows 7 has superseded everyone’s expectations, storming ahead of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as the biggest grossing pre-order product of all-time at Amazon.co.uk, and demand is still going strong,

Managing Director of Amazon.co.uk, Brian McBride said earlier today.

Amazon is one of the biggest online retailers and to break any records with them is no easy feat. Apparently only Dan Browns, The Lost Symbol has managed to out sell Windows 7 in the past 3 months, but that has been out since September. Windows 7 isn’t available until tomorrow, and it’s incredible that a software product has managed to sell so many copies. Windows 7 broke the record that was previously held by J.K Rowlings Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Windows 7 has managed to sell more pre-order copies in the first 8 hours than Windows Vista was able to sell in its entire pre-order period. Just goes to show how interested people are in Windows 7 and want to upgrade to Microsoft’s latest OS to get away from Vista. Amazon say that demand for Windows 7 is still strong and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.

If your one of the few who haven’t ordered a copy of Windows 7 for yourself you may consider it here.

Were you one of these people who pre-ordered Windows 7? Or are you waiting until tomorrow when it’s released? Let us know in the comments?

Posted on Everything Microsoft - Latest Microsoft News, Guides, Reviews & Themes

The Windows 7 pre-order phase has been quite messy especially in Europe. The bargain offers that Microsoft promised did not cut it for most users as they were never able to grab a Windows 7 copy at the reduced prices. The UK seems to be an exception to the rule as Amazon is currently running yet another tempting offer for all Windows 7 editions that are on sale at the shop. Amazon UK has dropped the prices for Windows 7 full editions to a price that can only be described as a bargain. But look for yourself:

Windows 7 Home Premium full: £64.68 instead of £149.99
Windows 7 Professional full: £148.00 instead of £219.99
Windows 7 Ultimate full: £159.98 instead of £229.99

Especially the price for the Home Premium version is more than tempting. Something that users from other European countries should take into account as well as they can order at the UK website of Amazon without problems or the fear of paying taxes for the purchase.

The upgrade editions of Windows 7 have also been reduced in price although not by such a large margin:

Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade: £64.99 instead of £79.99
Windows 7 Professional upgrade: £149.98 instead of £189.99
Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade: £157.16 instead of £199.99

This makes the Windows 7 Home Premium and Professional full editions cheaper than the upgrade editions. The prices are surely not going to stay that low forever. Users who have missed previous bargains might want to consider ordering those versions before the offer expires.

Posted on Everything Microsoft - Latest Microsoft News, Guides, Reviews & Themes

This is just a short summary of the last two posts (Microsoft Announces Windows 7 Pricing and No Windows 7 Upgrade Edition for EU) that have been published here at Windows 7 News: Probably the most exciting news in those articles is the announcement that users will be able to pre-order Windows 7 tomorrow for a very good price. Users from the United States can pre-order Windows 7 Home Premium for $50 instead of $200 and Windows 7 Professional for $100 instead of $300. That’s a quarter or a third of the retail price. The same is true for Canada and Japan were Windows 7 pre-orders will be available at the same time. Users from Germany, France and Great Britain will have to wait until July 15 for the pre-orders to start in their countries.

We have updated the poll on our site which is now asking if you will pre-order the operating system or buy Windows 7 when it is released officially.

[poll id="10"]
