Microsoft was sued in California court by blogger and patent owner Gary Odom for patent infringement. Gary Odom has sued over 28 companies for patent infringement in recent years.

Maybe some of you have gotten it from the torrents already, but the less adventurous of you will be interested to know that Microsoft has made the Office 2010 beta available for public download.
A few days ago we looked at the improvements in Windows 7 Paint. Today, I want to pay some attention to one of the other long-standing applications in Microsoft’s operating system, the venerable Wordpad. Doomed to forever straddle the line between Notepad and Microsoft Word, Wordpad has been upgraded in some useful ways, though in others it remains frustratingly limited.
Paint in Windows 7 has been given a face lift courtesy of the new Ribbon interface. Will the new Paint replace Photoshop in the artist’s toolbox? Probably not. But it does have a lot of nice features that finally manage to make Paint less of a joke and more of a usable application.
